Hutchinson names new Ark. Surgeon General
Governor-elect Asa Hutchinson named Dr. Greg Bledsoe Arkansas' new Surgeon General Tuesday, according to a release sent to 40/29 News by J.R. Davis, Hutchinson's communications director.
Bledsoe completed medical school and residency at UAMS in 2002, according to the release, and achieved a Masters in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Bledsoe is Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine of Marshall Medical Center South in Alabama, according to the release. Bledsoe was the personal physician to former President Bill Clinton during Clinton's tour of Africa in 2002, and Bledsoe has spent time working in Honduras, Tanzania, Sudan, China, Qatar, Antarctica and the North Pole, according to the release.
Dr. Greg Bledsoe is also the son of Arkansas State Senator Cecile Bledsoe. Senator Bledsoe is a Republican who lives in Rogers
